Islamic Help UK provides emergency food assistance to 76,930 persons in Mareb and Shabwah governorates

 

In response to the waves of displacement as a result of the ongoing conflict and the flood disaster in the Mareb, Islamic Help UK launched the Emergency Food Assistance Project in Mareb & Shabwah  funded by the Islamic Development Bank During the Holy Ramdan, which aims at distribution food baskets to 10,990 vulnerable and displaced families (76,930 persons).

The food baskets distributed consists of a flour bag, sugar bag, rice bag, sauce, oil, legumes, pasta, tea, milk, dates in Wadi and Medina districts in Marib and the Ataq and Beihan districts in Shabwa.

During the inauguration, the Deputy Governor of Marib Mr. Abdullah Ahmad Al Bakri praised the project, which is implemented by the Islamic Help UK, and funded by the Islamic Bank for development, hoping that it would be the beginning of an effective role for the Islamic Help in the governorate.

The acting Director of the office Planning and International Cooperation in Mareb also thanked the Islamic Help and the Islamic Development Bank for this timely food assistance and coordination with the line authorities. He also praised the arrangements organized by Islamic Help to reduce the spread of the Corona epidemic among the beneficiaries.

The coordinator of the Islamic Help in Marib, Mr. Abdullah Abdul Qadir Kreif, said that this humanitarian initiative was launched in coordination with the Executive Unit of IDPs, comes in cotext of targeting of 10,990 households in Marib and Shabwa governorates, in this project funded by the Islamic Development Bank.

He stressed that Islamic Help is planning to implement other humanitarian interventions in the upcoming days, to alleviate the suffering of the IDPs and those affected by floods and other disasters.
